By Anna K. Teller and Donald E. Teller Jr.

This article reviews Texas family law cases from federal and Texas courts during the Survey period from December 1, 2017, through November 30, 2018. The article excludes cases involving the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, the Texas Office of the Attorney General, and county Domestic Relations Offices. More than 279,000 new family law cases were filed in 2017. The number of cases reported annually exceeds the authors’ ability to report. Accordingly, the authors have limited review to a few highlight cases and an examination of trends of the past year.
